Welcome to the webside of the International Society for Philosophical Practice (ISPP).

The IGPP / ISPP was founded 10.10.1982 in Bergisch Gladbach near Köln/Cologne.

At present over 200 members are assembled in the society, several national societies as well.

25th anniversary of the IGPP / ISPP

Members will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the IGPP, 19 April 2008 in Reutlingen, Germany.
We invite you to participate in a small celebration followed by a symposium:
19 April, 2008, beginning 11:00;
Schulstrasse 28 (Dekanatshaus)
D 72764 Reutlingen.

The symposium as well as our subsequent spring meeting has the title: "Apprenticeship in the Practice of Philosophy". Ina Z. ( www.ina-z.de) will provide the artistic part of the celebration.

Dr. Gerd Achenbach, Founder and long time President of the IGPP will speak about the original idea and prospects of the Practice of Philosophy as well as possibilities for the integration of the Practice of Philosophy in academic curricula.

Prof. Anders Lindseth, long time Board member of the IGPP will speak about "The years of Apprenticeship and the Practice of Philosophy - questions concerning the art of living".

Thomas Gutknecht, President of the IGPP, will contribute an introduction concerning the significance of the Practice of Philosophy, and pay tribute to the Founder of the IGPP.

A number of Dr. Gerd Achenbach's long time associates and colleagues will exchange memories. A buffett lunch will be provided around 13:00.

The subsequent symposium will take place 15:00 - 19:00:

"Being-in-the-world: in conversation with great philosophers dead and alive."

Dr. Thomas Polednitschek
"The political Socrates: Political Theology as instructor of the Practice of Philosophy."

20 April will be a day of practice: we shall work with texts by Buber and Spinoza.
The meeting will end after lunch.
